Training Institute for

Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders

James Lock, MD, Ph.D. & Daniel le Grange, Ph.D.

Welcome

The purpose of the Institute is to disseminate evidence based treatments for child and adolescent eating disorders. No current strategies are available for clinicians wishing to have such training in a systematic and quality controlled manner. In addition, certification of training by the Institute will provide families and insurers information about specific skill sets mastered by clinicians.

The Institute provides several levels of training for interested clinicians.

1) Basic Introduction to key intervention models;
2) Specific Training in key models;
3) Certification for treatment in key models;
4) Certification for supervision of treatment in key models;
5) Certification for training others in key models; and,
6) Consultation for services and program development.

The Institute currently provides specific training in Family-Based Treatment (FBT), also sometimes called the Maudsley Approach for Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. In future, as evidence of treatment effectiveness is developed, other interventions likely to be available in the Institute will be Cognitive Behavioral Therapy adapted for adolescents with Bulimia Nervosa, and Adolescent Focused Therapy for adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa.

There are no CME or CEU credits for this course. Attendees will be receiving training from experts in Family-Based Treatment for use in therapeutic practice or expansion of knowledge of

therapeutic approaches for eating disorders.
